| Framed oil on board, signed and dated 1983
Howard Capes, member of the Royal Academy ("RA"), working in the second half of the twentieth century. A great friend of the spy Sir Anthony Blunt (Master of the Queen's Pictures) who was outed in the 1970's and fled for safety to the home of Howard Capes. On the reverse of this painting, the artist has scratched out his original title "Odd Man Out" and replaced it with "Chech Mate". Since this is a misspelling and doesn't make sense, we have reverted to the original title. Also written on the reverse is "Sept '83". Dimensions (without frame) 50 x 60 cms (19.75" x 23.5")
